  • Advocacy

Friends Africa carries out Advocacy to effectively increase awareness and funding for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. We mobilize resources through international and traditional donors, as well as on a national and community level.

Friends Africa’s Advocacy also influences policy change to allow for a favorable environment to fight aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Friends Africa conducts effective advocacy to the north for increases in overseas development assistance (ODA); we also engage the African private sector in the design and development of specialized programs that leverage a company’s assets, business skills, and networks to tailor a unique response to the three diseases.

Finally we engage African-based media to maximize exposure of the fight against the diseases and the role of the Global Fund. We also carry out advocacy on African governments to increase spending in the health sector, particularly in line with their pledge in Abuja 2001 to commit 15% of their annual budget to healthcare and in providing the counterpart funding required for accessing Global Fund grants in middle income countries.

  • Documentation

Friends Africa assesses and documents the challenges, successes, and lessons learned in implementation of Global Fund grants.

Friends Africa also optimizes grant performance through documentation and communication and Africa contributes to the success of programs benefitting from the Global Fund grants in Africa by ensuring that a steady and sustainable flow of communication exists on project successes, challenges and lessons learned to the global community.

  • Capacity Building & Education

Friends Africa provides Capacity Building and Education services to the African grassroots communities and civil society to realize a more sufficient, and efficient African society in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Friends Africa builds the capacities of African NGOs, private sector and other interested organizations in the fight by sharing and disseminating the output of our various research and documentation projects, as well as supporting workplace policies and programs for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The distribution network of our documents and publications include: Donors, Governments, Recipient Countries, The Global Fund, International and African private sector, and Civil Society.

Capacity Building and Education by Friends Africa will result in promoting a better understanding of The Global Fund’s mechanism in Africa, building stronger partnerships with its constituents and creating an environment that will encourage greater collaboration with the Global Fund and further optimize the performance of Global Fund grants.

  • Technical Assistance

Friends Africa has a technical assistance hub with 300 consultants, which are mobilized to different African countries to provide support for proposal development, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and various assessments.
