ADVOCACY:
Text Messaging Fund-raising: this projects involves a partnership between Friends Africa, MTN and UAM (United Against Malaria Campaign), where the 2010 World Cup event will be used as a platform to effectively create awareness as well as raise funds via text messaging for the fight against Malaria in Africa..This project would be carried out in Rwanda, Nigeria and Ghana in its initial stages and is expected to raise a $100 million from Africa.
CAPACITY BUILDING/EDUCATION:
Grassroots NGO Capacity Building Seminar 2010: This activity will involve selected Grassroots NGOs from African Countries in a three day Capacity Building Seminar covering Proposal Development, Fund raising, Project Management, Proposal Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Procurement, and Financial Management. Session trainers and panelists will emerge from the private sector, public sector, civil society, the Global Fund and participants who were trained in the previous seminar in 2008.Workplace Policy Project 2009: Friends Africa, NIBUCCA (Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS) and various Nigerian state governments are partnering to present a number of seminars throughout the country; with a goal to see the Nigerian private sector and governments more open to and in fact more aware of the possibilities to develop policies for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis within the work force.
Databases Project NGOs, Private Sector, and Government 2007-2009: The purpose of this project is to build a large comprehensive file of organizations involved in or interested in the fight against the three pandemics and constantly supply them with information which will aid for more effective work in these areas for the different sectors.
DOCUMENTATION:
Country Case Studies: this project covers health financing in six African countries where the several African Governments and health ministers committed to increasing health funding at the Abuja Declaration in 2006. It is a critical look at the progress of some of the commitments from 2006 till date; confirming that the cup is half full and not half empty.What the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Means to Africans 3rd Edition: Friends Africa will produce a third publication illustrating how useful Global Fund grants have been in recipient countries as well as challenges which grassroots NGOs as well as other organizations involved in the fight still face in eradicating these three pandemics.
Documentaries on What the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria means to Africans (1st and 2nd Editions): Text would come alive in this documentary that gives a more indebt understanding of the impact of Global Fund grants in African countries.
